A.U. Smith

Services for A.U. Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2004 in the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. James Foster and Rev. Lloyd Whitman officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Colfax under the direction of Kramer of Colfax.

A.U. Smith, age 73, of Colfax, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in his residence.

He was a resident of Colfax and Jonesville. He was born July 19, 1930 in Winn Parish. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He retired from Bell South after 41 years. Mr. Smith was past chairman of North Centrala, Inc. in Colfax. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended Utility Baptist Church in Jonesville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Jackie Fisher Smith; his parents, Judge and Geneva Smith; and two sisters, Carmel Lonadier and Loyce Clark.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty E. Smith of Colfax; two sons, Don Smith of Texas and Bill Smith of Colfax; one daughter, Geneva Adair of Walker; one brother, Eugene Smith of Deadwood, Texas; a host grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-children; and step-grandchildren.

Friends are asked to call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer of Colfax and from 1 p.m. until time of services Saturday in Bethel Baptist Church.
