Ada R. Beck

LUFKIN, Texas -- Ada Root Beck, 74, of Lufkin, Texas, was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Ellsworth and grew up in Radium. Her parents, who preceded her in death, were Ed and Nell Root. She passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, from complications due to a stroke.

Mrs. Beck was retired from Lufkin Industries, and was a member of 4th and Groesbeck Church of Christ. She loved reading, needlepoint and word puzzles.

Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Stanley Beck; son, Tony Beck; daughters, Bernice Beck Kirkland and Adina Beck Crain; brothers, Ed Root, Sim Root and Wes Root; grandchildren, Ruth Kirkland, Emily Crain and Andrew Crain; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Beck's memory may be made to 4th and Groesbeck Church of Christ, 401 E. Groesbeck, Lufkin, Texas 75901; or to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Pallbearers were Ken Cunigan, Lonnie Davis, Henry Jordan, James King, David Kirkland and Julian Renken.

Services for Mrs. Beck were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Dean Bullock and Charles Stringer presiding. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
