Ada M. Stovall
(July 28, 1910 - December 19, 2012)

A funeral service for Mrs. Ada M. Stovall, age 102, formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel, 1131 SH 149, in Carthage with Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Stovall passed away on Wednesday night, Dec. 19, 2012, in Garrison.

Ada Massingill Stovall was born on July 28, 1910, in Pleasant Hill, LA to John Stephen and Onie Nelson Massingill. Mrs. Stovall married Dennis Mackey “D.M.” Stovall, Jr. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1980. During WWII, Mrs. Stovall taught at Sabine Parish Schools and later at Carthage Schools. She and her husband moved to Carthage in 1943, from Marshall and together they owned Carthage Drug until their retirement in 1972. She was a former member of the Carthage Book Club and the Carthage Book Forum since 1947. Mrs. Stovall joined the First United Methodist Church in 1943, where she was a member and teacher of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Fred Massingill of Richardson and one sister, Mary Lanagan Bryant of Longview.

Mrs. Stovall is survived by one son, Stephen Dennis Stovall, Sr. and wife Linda of Nacogdoches; one daughter, Katherine Branch and husband Herbert G. of Woodville; four grandsons, Stephen Branch and wife Cherise of Victoria, Charles Branch and wife Kay of Colmesneil, John Branch of Nacogdoches, Stephen Dennis Stovall, Jr. and wife Sarah of Nacogdoches; one granddaughter, Amy Stovall King and husband Mitch of El Paso; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Branch, Charles Branch, John Branch, Dennis Stovall, Paul Prince, Dr. John Stovall, Michael Lanagan, Tony Lanagan, and Amy King.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews and James Cammack.
