Ada Mae Clark

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- A memorial service for Ada Mae Clark will be held at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City on December 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. to be conducted by Harrell Shelton, Associate Pastor of the church. A private graveside was held on December 28.

Ada Mae was born in Winn Parish on June 16, 1912, and went to her heavenly reward on December 25. After her marriage at age 16, she lived in Shreveport for several years before moving back to Winnfield and then on to Alexandria, LA, where she was employed by Field enterprises selling World Book Encyclopedias. She rose to the position of District Manager before retiring in 1976 and moving back to Shreveport. Ada Mae always said that those years after retirement were the most exciting times of her life, traveling all over the world with daughter Shirley. She learned scuba diving at age 67 and, according to an article in the Shreveport Times, was the oldest female diver at that time. She was the subject of three special programs on her adventures filmed by Rick Rowe for KTBS, Channel 3; one on her scuba diving, one on a hot air balloon trip and another on one of her many white water rafting trips.

Ada Mae was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Clark of Shreveport, Eleanor Naremore and husband Robert of Houston, and Marilyn Grasshoff and husband Alex of Los Angeles, grandsons Steve Naremore of Galveston and Rick Naremore of Dallas, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, two sisters-in-law, Verlon (Mrs. J.D.) Holmes of Winnfield and Maxine (Mrs. W.W.) Holmes of Jonesboro, LA.

Friends are invited to visit with family members during the hour before the service begins and are requested NOT to send flowers. Memorials may be made to Airline Baptist Church Children's Building Fund, to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or any other memorial of your choice.
