Ada Marion McCarty
(October 17, 1927 - October 4, 2012)

Ada Marion Knipp McCarty, 84, of Ellisville, MS, died Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Ellisville Funeral Home, with burial in Ellisville City Cemetery. Dr. Dave Moran and Rev. Chris Wheeler will officiate.

Mrs. McCarty was a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a faithful member of the choir and WMU. She was a lifelong resident of Jones County. She retired from Regions Bank in Laurel after 46 years in banking starting with First National Bank of Laurel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee McCarty, Sr.; her parents Murrel F. Knipp and Lou Ada Hudson Knipp; her brother Clinton H. Knipp and her sister, Sara Elizabeth Knipp Howard.

Mrs. McCarty is survived by two sons, Joseph Lee McCarty, Jr. (Leigh) of Birmingham, AL, Brian Hudson McCarty (Linda) of Ovett, MS; one daughter, Kimberly Anne McCarty Woodlief (Don) of Fernandina Beach, FL; one brother Murrel F. Knipp, Jr. of Oxford, MS; five grandchildren, Brooke McCarty of Birmingham, AL, Ashley Welcher (Brian) of Atlanta, GA, Marion Petty (Kirk) of Birmingham, AL; Ryan McCarty (Nicole) of Maben, MS and Joseph Woodlief of Fernandina Beach, FL and seven great grandchildren: Caroline Steele, Elizabeth Love and Madeline Jane Welcher; Charlee Claire and Bo Ryan McCarty; Mary Carlyle and Jack Eugene Petty; and Julie Johnson, a long time loving friend of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Pecan Grove Baptist Church, 699 Pecan Grove Road, Ellisville, MS 39437.

Pallbearers will be Jack Delk, Alan Delk, Buddy Lambert, Sammy Shows, Marvin Montgomery and Travis Pitts. Honorary pallbearers Buddy Howard, Ralph Howard, A.B. Howard Jr., and Sam Stewart.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, October 7th, 2012 at Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, which is in charge of the funeral. 601-477-3794
