Admiral Dewey Erwin, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Admiral Dewey Erwin, Jr. will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2015 at Searcy Baptist Church in Searcy with Rev. Reed Terry and Rev. Lou Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawthorne Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Jena. Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at the church.
Mr. Erwin, 86, of Trout was born on December 24, 1928 in Enterprise, LA and passed from this life on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Hunt Oil Co. as a pumper. He was a member of Searcy Baptist Church where he served many years as a Deacon. Mr. Erwin loved his church family and was a faithful Christian. He was a wonderful father and husband. He served his country in the United States Marines during World War II.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, LaVessa Erwin of Trout; daughter, Dolly Dixon of Homer, LA; sons, Aaron Paul Erwin of Cornersville, TN and Darrell Keith Erwin of Trout; sister, Thelma Rabalais of Pineville, grandchildren, Rebecca Carter of Sterlington, Noah Dixon of Homer and William Hawthorne of Jonesville and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents, Admiral Dewey, Sr. and Leila Howard Erwin; sisters, Vera Lynch, Eva Tierney and Martha McCullum; brother, Mason Erwin and grandson, Micah Cody Erwin.
Pallbearers will be Dwan Stringer, Hanson Stringer, Dan Stringer, John Rodney Campbell, Lionel Posey and Collin Stringer.
