Alan Black

Funeral services for Mr. Alan Black, 16, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Rushing and Rev. Mack Strange officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Alan died Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe from injuries received in a tree-cutting accident.

He was born in Vicksburg and had lived most of his life in Tallulah. He was a student at Tallulah Academy and was a member of the First Baptist Church Youth Choir. He was president of the 4-H Club and was active in several social organizations and in sports.

Survivors include his mother Marilyn Roberson Simpkins of Tallulah; his stepfather; Charles Simpkins of Tallulah; his father Larry A. Black of Monroe; his step-mother, Barbara Black of Monroe; one sister Elise Black of Tallulah; two step-sisters, Lana Simpkins of Tallulah and Karla Durr of Monroe; one step-brother, Michael Furr of Monroe; maternal grandmother, Hazel Roberson of Tallulah; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Black of Newellton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers were Gary Vogel, Curt Collins, Robbie Kivett, Dave Collins, Rick Kivett and Brad Black.
