Aldine Tucker Gordon
November 12, 1938 - August 13, 2016

Aldine Myra Tucker Gordon, born to Bonnie Crum Tucker and Aldine Stephen Tucker on November 12, 1938 in Natchez, MS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends on Saturday, August 13, 2016, after a short illness.

She grew up in Magnolia, MS and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1956. In school she excelled in all sports, especially basketball; was the featured twirler with the band; a yearbook beauty; Miss Hospitality; an accomplished pianist and singer; and an active member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, played the organ for worship and was a member of the UMYF. Aldine attended Millsaps College and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in speech and language pathology. She began her long career as the speech pathologist for the MS Cerebral Palsy Hospital in Jackson and as director of the Jackson Speech and Hearing Clinic. She married Edgar E. Gordon in June, 1961, and they were blessed with two daughters Stacey and Stephanie. After the birth of her daughters she received a Masters Degree in special education from Mississippi State University and continued her career in the Jackson Public Schools and the CARES Center. Aldine was a lifelong member of Christ UMC where she sang in the choir, was involved in the flower guild and man a member of the Christ Sharing Sunday School Class and Circle #3. She and Ed were 50-year members of a supper club where they developed lifeline friendships. She was a gourmet cook who loved to share her food and be the “quintessential” host to family and friends. Aldine was very proud of being a Master Gardener and was at her happiest in her gardens planting and caring for her vegetables and beautiful flowers.

Aldine is survived by her husband Edgar E. Gordon; daughters Stacey Gordon Davis of Madison and Stephanie Gordon Russell of Ridgeland; grandchildren Tucker Davis, Ivy Robertson, Luke and Cash Henderson; son-in-law George Russell; sister Bonnie Jean Coleman of Dallas; numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, August 15, 3 pm, at Christ United Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 1 pm.
