Alex Gaar
Gaar, Alexander Campbell Our beloved Alex died quietly in his sleep Sunday, August 29th. He was only 21 years old and is so deeply missed by those who loved him that words can't express our sense of loss.
At six feet three inches and 185 pounds, Alex was a striking physical specimen -- a good-looking guy with lots of love in his heart. He drove an F-150, had a pair of size 13 cowboy boots, loved to fish (following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather), and to listen to country music. Alex attended Brookhaven Junior College and was a criminal justice major. He planned to join the military service in the next few months, aspiring to be an Army Ranger or Marine. While attending school he worked part time in the production department at Travis Wolff Accountants and Advisors.
He is survived by his parents, Harold and Marilee Gaar, and his brother Ben.
Ben and Alex were the very best of friends. Over the past few months Alex developed a very close and loving relationship with Sara-Jane Swoboda. She was kind and loving to Alex and for that we are eternally grateful. In addition to his immediate family Alex is survived by his grandmother, Cam Gaar, and his grandfather, John Schiffman, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
A service to celebrate Alex's life, will be held at The Langford House, 5417 Swiss Avenue, on Saturday, September 4 from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm with special remembrances to be shared beginning at 1 pm. Family and friends are encouraged to drop by and visit, share food and drink and celebrate a precious soul who was loved so very much.
Rest in peace, Alexander Campbell Gaar. We will miss you forever.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alexander's name to The Gordie Foundation. gordie.org/The-Foundation.aspx
