Alf L. “Snuffy” Tidwell
Services for Alf L. “Snuffy” Tidwell, 80, of Burke, were held May 12, 1989 at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Tidwell had resided in Burke most of his life. He was a builder and a rancher. He was a member of the Burke Baptist Church and a long-time member of the Burke Masonic Lodge, chairman of the Burke Water Board and served as a member of the ASCS committee. He was one of the founders and coaches of Lufkin Youth Baseball. He played semi-pro baseball for the Lufkin Foresters.
In 1981, he was honored at the Civic Center at a “Thy Brothers' Keeper” banquet in recognition of his many years of work in Little League Baseball in Diboll and Lufkin.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Tidwell; son and daughter-in-law, William Leon (Butch) and Rhonda Tidwell; grandsons, James (Bullet) Tidwell and Ashley Tidwell; step-granddaughter, Melissa Ainsworth; brothers, C. J. Tidwell and E . C. Tidwell; Sister, Allie May Cameron; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom B. and Louise McKinney and W.O. (Zero) and Marie Lewis; and other nieces and nephews.
