Funeral services for Mr. Alfred A. Holmes, age 77, of Tallulah, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2002 at Parkview Baptist Church with Revs. Cletus Moak and Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Holmes died suddenly Wednesday, October 9th at the Madison Parish Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army in the European Theatre. He came to Tallulah in 1949 and worked many years as mechanic and service manager for Lamar T. Loe Chevrolet in Tallulah before co-founding H & H Repair Service in October of 1973.

He was Senior Deacon of Parkview Baptist Church and was church treasurer for 29 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Price Holmes of Tallulah, three sons: Darryl Holmes and wife Regina of Delhi, LA, Shelby Holmes and wife Eva of Tallulah, LA, Mark Holmes and wife Cathy of Tallulah, LA, two daughters: Karen Cobb and husband Rod of Tallulah, LA, Phyllis Williams of Tallulah, LA, two sisters: Cleora Cassels of Rosefield, LA, Rowena Adams of Tallulah, LA, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Grandsons David Cobb, Michael Henson, Phillip Henson, Bryan Holmes, Lynn Holmes, Steven Holmes, Tracy Holmes and Andrew Holmes will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church, Collins Thomas and Don Butler.
