ALFRED L. HILL

WILLIAMSBURG -- Retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Alfred Lee Hill, 56, died Friday, July 7, in his home.

A native of Kingsville, Texas, Mr. Hill was a Williamsburg resident since 1971 and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Lion's Club and Ruritan Club.

Mr. Hill retired from the Marines in 1968 after 20 years and was employed as a deputy sheriff for James City County.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Hill; a daughter, Dawn Russ of Gloucester; a son, David Hill of North Augusta, S.C.; his mother and stepfather, Gladys and Ingoma McWilliams of Shreveport, La.; a grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Bucktrout Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Logan. Burial with military honors will follow in Hampton National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Williamsburg Area SPCA or American Heart Association.
