Mrs. Bihm Rites Today At Waxia

Mrs. W. P. Bihm, 86, the former Alice Emmons, died Saturday at 10:55 a.m. at her home in Waxia. She had been ill for several years.

The body is at the family residence. Services will be held there today at 3 p.m. with Rev. A. M. Martin of Jeanerette, Rev. R. E. Walton of Opelousas, and Rev. Johnny Zerangue of Waxia officiating.

Burial will be in the lower Waxia cemetery under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bihm was a native of Chicot and a resident of Waxia and Port Barre for 70 years. She was instrumental in have [sic having] the Port Barre Methodist Church constructed and aided in retaining a pastor there.

Surviving are four sons, Dennis, Theo, and Hugh Bihm of Port Barre, and Ralph Bihm of Orange, Tex.; five daughters, Mrs. W. B. Pierce [sic W. R. Pearce], Mrs. Eleanor Bihm, Mrs. Lubin Guidry [sic Guidroz] of Port Barre, Mrs. G. A. Lafield and Mrs. Levy Jackson of Batchelor.

Also surviving are two brothers, Danile [sic Daniel] Emmons of Lone Pine and Elijah Emmons of Oakdale; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
