Rites Set for Alice M. Welch

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Marie Jackson Welch, 58, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Mrs. Welch died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at her residence on Rt. 1, Liberty, following a short illness. Born Jan. 13, 1919, she was a native of Amite County.

She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, the WMU and the Woodman Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Jewel C. Welch, Liberty; four daughters [sic sisters], Mrs. Vada Arnold, Mrs. Elsie Bass, Mrs. Lola Toney, all of Gloster, Mrs. Carnette Freeman, Liberty; two brothers, Lamar Jackson, Gloster, Barnesbee Jackson, Meadville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body will lie at Harman Chapel in Liberty until 2:30 p.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

The Rev. Gary Bowlin and the Rev. Elmer Vogelsang will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survived by Sisters

Mrs. Alice Marie Jackson Welch, 58, whose funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, is survived by four sisters, not four daughters, as listed in the account of her death in Wednesday's Enterprise-Journal.

The sisters include Mrs. Vada Arnold, Mrs. Elsie Bass, Mrs. Lola Toney, all of Gloster and Mrs. Carnette Freeman, Liberty.

Hartman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
