Mrs. Nadine Vandament

The funeral service for Mrs Nadine Vandament was held in the Christian church Friday, with Carl Polsley officiating. Mrs Nadine Vandament, 56, wife of Austin Vandament, publisher of the Minco Minstrel and Tuttle Times, died at about 4pm Wednesday at the newspaper office in Minco, of an apparent heart attack. Nadine went, as she had expressed a desire to go, busy at her work.

She was born 8/15/1915 in Tuttle and had lived in the Tuttle-Minco area all her life. She graduated from the Tuttle high school and the Oklahoma college for women. In 1938, she was married to Austin Vandament and had been active in the newspaper and printing business since that time until two years ago, when she was stricken by illness. She also had farming interests. Mrs Vandament was very active in the Christian church of Tuttle, of which she was a member, and having a trained voice, was in demand as a singer. She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star. At one time, she was active in the Grady county chapter of the American Red Cross and was a member of the Salvation Army advisory board, and was a member of the Grady county Democrat Womens club and the Oklahoma Press Association. Mrs Melvin Mackey, soloist, provided the music, accompanied by Mrs Hunk Cobble on the organ. Pallbearers were Stevie Chenoweth, Ed Roberts, Verle Barnes, Joe Hartin, Jim Williams, & Freddie Rice.

Survivors, other than her husband, Austin, are her mother, Mrs Fannie Thomas of the home, 1 son, Jimmie of San Marcos, TX, and 2 grandsons, Clay & Dick Vandament of San Marcos.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Reynolds funeral home of Minco.
