Allen A. Smith Services Today

HOMER -- Funeral services for Allen A. Smith, 78, of Homer, a retired supervisor of Claiborne Parish schools will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. Billy K. Smith and the Rev. Bently Massingill officiating. Burial will be in Shiloah [sic Shiloh] Cemetery near Bernice under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home of Homer.

Mr. Smith died in a local hospital yesterday after a long illness. He was formerly a teacher and principal in Claiborne Parish. He was a native of Shongaloo and was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge here.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Beal Jr. of Camden, Ark., and Mrs. M. A. Knighten of Lisbon; two sons, Ralph Smith of Houston, Tex., and Malcolm Smith of Decatur, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Jack Hortmann and Mrs. Joe Hearn, both of Minden, and Mrs. Ruth Still of Lufkin, Tex.; two brothers, Webb P. Smith of Bernice, and Alva Smith of Minden, and six grandchildren.
