Hargrove rites today

Services are to be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Hulett Chapel for Allen S. Hargrove, Sr., 81, of 419 Sixteenth Ave., who died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at Hattiesburg Convalescent Center. Dr. John E. Barnes was to officiate. Burial was to be in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Hargrove was born Dec. 6, 1888 in Clarke County. He and his wife, the former Nallie Nettles, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He retired in 1954 as a postal inspector after 46 years of service. He attended Mississippi State University. He was a member of Main St. Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of the W. O. W. He was a postal advisor to the armed services in Europe following World War II.

Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Gropp of San[t]a Maria, Calif., Miss Gail Hargrove of Bonn, Germany, and Mrs. H. P. Geiger of Hattiesburg; one son, Allen S. Hargrove, Jr., of Franklin, Tenn.; one grandchild, Ann Hargrove of MSCW; two brothers, John E. Hargrove of Jackson and Rev. H. H. Hargrove of Brownwood, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. H. P. Moseley of New Orleans, Mrs. E. L. Boggan of Birmingham, Mrs. H. T. Lewis and Miss Glinda Hargrove of Jackson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
