MRS. JOHN S. GOODWIN FUNERAL IS AT LAKE

Mrs. John S. Goodwin of Lake died Nov. 30, 1970, at the family residence, after an illness of some time. She was a native of Newton County, born April 13, 1911, her parents being Mary Floye Emmons and Marion Franklin Kelly. Mrs. Allene Marion Goodwin was a member of the Lake Baptist Church and active in community affairs before her terminal illness.

She leaves, in addition to her husband, two sons, James Goodwin of Newton and Teddy Goodwin of Gulfport; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Richardson of Newton, Mrs. Peggy Mitchell of Lake and Mrs. Glenda Lewis of Gulfport; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Floyd Kelly of Greenville; and five sisters, Mrs. Irvin Cooksey of Lake, Mrs. Lamar Leach of Jackson, Mrs. Charlie Satterfield of Jackson, Mrs. Clyde Bounds of Laurel and Mrs. Wiley Ivey of Lake.

Funeral rites were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 2, at the Lake Baptist Church, with the Rev. Pete Jackson, pastor, and the Revs. Herman and James Albert Kelly as officiants. Interment followed in the Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Clifton Kelly, Harold Kelly, Dale Bounds, Rusty McMillian, Jimmy Ivey and Earl D. Goodwin served as active pallbearers. Melvin Cooksey, Herbert Kelly, Harry Leach, Charles Satterfield, Robert Leach and Buddy Kelly were listed as honorary bearers.
