Alpha L. Higgs

Funeral Services for Alpha L. Higgs Brewton will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church in Dodson, at 2 p.m. Bro. Teddy Sharbono, Bro. Scott Tilton and Bro. Clovis Sturdivant will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Brewton, a homemaker was born on February 14, 1931 and passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 in Winnfield. She was 76.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George H. Brewton of Dodson; two daughters, Georgia Ann Brewton of Medford, Oregon and Liz Howell and husband Marshal of Winnfield; two sisters, Coy Nell Gresham and husband Paul of Quitman and Charlotte Chandler and husband Terry of Dodson; one brother, Rev. Rayford Higgs and wife Dorothy of Winnfield; six grandchildren, Jr. Jordan and wife Tara of Dallas, Texas, Marsheila Rudd of Bossier City, Christi Frieu and husband David of Dodson, Matt Jordan and wife Chasity of Dodson, Kellie McNeal and husband Larry of Effie, Seth Howell of Winnfield; nine great-grand children; sister-in-law, Janet Higgs of Dodson.

Mrs. Brewton is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brewton is preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Irene Boyett Higgs; two brothers, Hubern and Charles Higgs; one nephew, Tony Higgs and great-niece MaKenzie Higgs.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cockerham, Robert Jones, Stacy Stewart, Houston Higgs, Donald Ray Boyett and Tony Rudd. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Chandler, Kenneth Williams, Gary Higgs, Allen Guilliams and Donny Carter.
