Alton Dent Goss
Alton Dent Goss, 87, of Carrollton, died Sunday September 30, 2012 at his home in Carroll County. Funeral Services are 10 A.M. Thursday October 4, 2012 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home with interment in Centerville Cemetery. Rev. Larry Shackelford will officiate.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Wilson & Knight.
Mr. Goss, a lifelong resident of Carroll County, was born in the Centerville Community to Dent Henry and Laura McDonald Goss. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Rhineland area of Germany. After the service he worked for the Holsum Bread Company for ten years and later Kroger. He owned and operated Goss Grocery on Bowie Land, later on Grenada Boulevard and then the Family Store on Malmason Road until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the V. F. W. Post 3225 of Greenwood, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mavis K. Goss, and a son Charles Kenneth Goss.
His survivors include, two daughters, Carolyn Ann Johnson of Clever, MO, Patsy Goss Sidio of Spkane, MO, a son, Alton Wayne Goss of Carrollton, MS, a sister Margie Norwood of Greenwood, MS, 15 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers are Roy Goss, Wilbur Goss, James Drummond, Wayne Goss,Bobby Goss, Paul Sidio and Kevin Goss.
