Alvie L. Jowers

Funeral services for Alvie L. Jowers, 57, of Rt 4, West Monroe, were to be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Mulhearn's Funeral Home of West Monroe with the Rev. A. C. Cantrell officiating. Burial was to be Bethel [sic Bethany] Cemetery.

Mr. Jowers died Wednesday morning at E. A. Conway Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Jowers was a native and lifelong resident of West Monroe. He held memberships in the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church, American Legion Post 201, serving as past commander of the post and was serving as vice commander at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alvie Jowers of West Monroe; one daughter, Mrs. Alva Henderson of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Milton P. Jowers of Alexandria and Richard H. Jowers of Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Ralph Hale of Down[es?], Calif. and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be A[udrey?] Tullos, Aubrey Tullos, Neal Tullos, Edward Jowers, Alfred Harn, Henry Young, Elm[us?] Braedin and Peter West.
