Alvin Lester Smith

SWEETWATER (RNS) -- Alvin Lester Smith, 64, of Route 1, Roscoe, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday at his home and was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace C. F. Rose of an apparent heart attack. Services are pending at the McCoy Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 20, 1920 [sic 1911] in Ballinger, he was a farmer and married Euala Fry in 1932 in Sweetwater. He lived in Nolan County 56 years. He was a member of the soil conservation board for 30 years and was a member of the Highland School Board. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Roscoe.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Martha Ray Blair of Sweetwater and Mrs. Berry Joe Colling of Sweetwater; two brothers, David and Wilson, both of Roscoe; three sisters, M. H. Hiene [sic Heine] and Mrs. Kreidel, both of Sweetwater, and Mrs. Albert Monroe [sic Munroe] of Plainview; three grandchildren.
