Alvin Sikes

Funeral services for Alvin Sikes, 81, of Baskin, a retired Pest Control Owner and Operator, will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Baskin Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Marion Spence and Rev. Woody Janise. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hale Cemetery in Baskin under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Winnsboro, LA.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA.

Mr. Sikes was born on April 17, 1929, and passed away on March 6, 2011. He was a member of Baskin Baptist Church and served as a deacon for fifty years. He loved spending time with his family and playing his fiddle with friends. He also loved to fish and grow a large garden of peas, corn, and other vegetables, which he freely shared with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents OT and Clara Sikes, his sister, Earlene Williams, and his son-in-law, Sidney Young.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Emma Watley Sikes, five daughters, Debra Young of Dallas, Texas, Faye Carter and husband Randy of Baskin, Karon Little and husband Bud of Longview, Texas, Cheryl Williams and husband Byron of Ruston, Emily Janise and husband Woody of Shreveport, two sons, David Sikes and wife Mary Ann of Bossier City, Tim Sikes and wife Angela of Dallas, Texas, nine grandchildren, Corey Carter and wife Dianne of Baskin, Michael Little and wife Caroline of Bastrop, Andrew Young of Dallas, Texas, Matthew Young of Dallas, Texas, Thomas Little and Brandi of Longview, Texas, Brandon Williams and wife Jessica of Ruston, Kerri Smith and husband Arlin of Pineville, Parker Sikes of Bossier City and Jackson Sikes of Bossier City, 5 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Carter, Anna Carter, Hunter Little, Hayden Little, and Natalie Little.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Garvin, Dan Grammer, Danny Remore, Nolan Cowart, and Bob Clark.
