Amanda B. Jones
Amanda Buckels Jones, 91, of McComb, died March 2, 2006, at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven.
Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb,and noon Saturday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rick Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery in McCall Creek.
Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 8, 1914, in McCall Creek to Albert and Hattie Gerbish Buckels.
She was a retired registered nurse with the Mississippi Department of Health and Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson, La. She was a longtime member of East McComb Baptist Church (now New Heights Baptist Church). She was a longtime active member of the Mississippi Nurses Association. She was a former member and chairperson of the East McComb Activities Committee.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Lee Jones; four brothers, Albert, Charles, Decatur and Ray Buckels; and two sisters, Versie Sumrall and Stella Jackson.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard ``Dick'' Jones and Sally of Parker, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law,Anna and Chuck Lambert of McComb, and Mary Sue and Gregory Davidof Ridgway, Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Mary Buckels of McCall Creek; one sister, Mabel Bone of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Bobbie Hartness and husband Robby of St.Francisville, Bekah David and Mary Jane Lambert, both of McComb, David Posta and wife Melissa of Grand Junction, Colo., Amber Posta of Ridgway, Karen Bonner and husband Chris of Hattiesburg and Austin Jones of Parker, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren, Luke and Casey Hartness, William, Katie and Morgan David, and Kacee and Jena Posta; a former daughter-in-law, Connie Mills of McComb; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ray Bates, Lane Ball, Mike Buckels,Robby Hartness and Joey Buckels. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Hartness and William David.
