Mrs. Amanda Jones Dies At Age of 84

Mrs. Amanda Lee Jones, 84, of Route 1, Smithfield, died Thursday night in Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Overby Funeral Home in Smithfield is handling the arrangements.

She was born in Sampson County. She was a member of Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church on Route 1, Smithfield. The Rev. R. C. Cherry, the Rev. Wiley Ferrell, and the Rev. O. Lee Gregory will officiate. Burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Bertie Otto and Mrs. Virginia T. King of Releigh, Mrs. Eva West and Mrs. Esther Matthews of Smithfield; five sons, Perly W. Jones of Clayton, Moses and Lisbon Jones of Smithfield, Seth M. Jones of Raleigh, and J. P. Jones Jr. of Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Barbour and Mrs. Mary C. Langdon of Smithfield, Mrs. Ellen Austin of Four Oaks, Mrs. Louie Johnson of Benson, and Mrs. Josie LeNeave of Raleigh; 27 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
