Amanda R. Butler
Amanda Ruth Butler passed into fellowship with our Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the age of 74.
She was born October 22, 1940 in Baton Rouge, LA. Amanda wed the love of her life, King Butler, on December 23, 1962, and the couple was married for 52 years. While traveling with her husband during his US Air Force deployment, she always found a way to teach young children, a passion she had her entire life. A graduate of LSU in 1962, she taught kindergarten and Pre-K for many years in many places. Amanda’s life revolved around her husband and her Savior. Amanda was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula. Declining health reinforced her desire to be with our Maker. Now Heaven is a brighter place.
She leaves behind her husband, King Butler; son, Bryan Butler, sister, Bertha Brewer; brother, John Brewer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Brewer.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Dr. David Cranford will officiate the services and interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
