494H --------- Sale of Land ---------

The State of Louisiana
Parish of Catahoula

This indenture made the thirteenth
day of May A.D. One thousand Eight
hundred and forty Eight between James Thames and Catharine C.
Thames his wife of the Said State and parish of one part and Amos
McCarty of Said State and Parish of the other part witnessth, That
the said James Thames and Catharine C. his wife for and in con-
sideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to them in
hand paid by the said Amos McCarty at and before the sealing and
delivery hereof the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof
acquit and forever discharge the said Amos McCarty his heirs Exec
utors and administrators by there presents have granted bargained
sold aliened released and confirmed and by there presents do grant
bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said Amos Mc
Carty and to his heirs and assigns all that certain tract of land known
as the South half of the South West quarter of Section no Thirteen
in Township no Twelve north of Range No. One East - Together
will all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging in
any wise appertaining; and also all the right title interest, property
claim and demand whatsoever of them the said James Thames
and Catharine C. his wife in law or equity of in or to the same
To have and to hold the said land hereby granted with the appurt
-nances unto the said Amos McCarty his heirs and assigns to
the only proper use and behalf of the said Amos McCarty his
heirs and assigns forever -- In witness whereof the said James
Thames and Catharine C. Thames his wife have hereunto set their
hands and seals dated the day and year first above written. --

Sealed and delivered in presence of
us the undersigned witnesses being called by
the above named parties to witness the above deed. --

Before me the undersigned Recorder
in and for the Parish of Catahoula state aforesaid on this 24th day of
July A.D. 1848 Personally came and appeared Christian Riser one
of the witnesses to the foregoing deed or instrument of writing and he
being duly sworn declared under oath that said deed or instrument
was signed in presence of himself and Jacob Riser the other subscribing
witness by James Thames and Catharine C. Thames (who made her
ordinary mark) and by them acknowledged as their act and deed for
the uses and purposes therein expressed. --

this 24th July 1848.
