Raleigh -- A. W. Arender, 67, a farmer, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 5 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church in Smith County. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church with burial in Sharon Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is handling arrangements.

RALEIGH -- Services for A.W. Arender, 67, who died Wednesday, June 6, 2004, at University MS Medical Center in Jackson, were held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Salem Baptist Church with burial in the Sharon Cemetery in Smith County. The Revs. Jimmy Lynn Chesnut, Travis Bryant, Bob Ivy, Doyle Boyles and Father Carroll officiated. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Arender was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Smith County. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jo Blakeney Arender; his parents, Amos W. and Helen Smith Arender; and one sister, Maxie Arender.
Survivors include four sons, Danny Arender, Donnie Arender, Chris Arender and Jason Arender, all of Raleigh; three daughters, Karen Johnson of Brandon, Lisa Boone and Marcia Taylor, both of Homewood; two brothers, Otho Arender and Marthell Arender, both of Raleigh; four sisters, Sue Smith and Gay Bolton, both of Pope, Jeanette Arnold of Raleigh and Angie McKissack of Byram.
Pallbearers were Eddie Joe Smith, Dewayne Bailey, Wayne Maner, Bobby Roebuck, Tony Ducksworth and Marty Wade. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Smith, Gaylon Bradshaw, Randy Batte, Sherman Rogers and Wendell Frith.
