Andrew Jackson Gentry, Sr. was born on January 4, 1923 in Dermott, Arkansas and died in Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Services will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral home in Monroe, Louisiana, with Reverend Larry Stafford officiating, interment will follow in the Monroe Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday evening August 29, 2005 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane, Monroe, Louisiana.

Mr. Gentry served as a pilot in the US Air Force during WWII. Mr. Gentry graduated from Northeast Louisiana Junior college and Louisiana Tech University obtaining a Business Administration degree. He married Ezell Edwards in 1948, and established a home in Monroe, Louisiana with the subsequent birth of two children, Andrew J. Gentry, Jr. in 1951, and Gary Edwards Gentry in 1954. Later, he married Rae Landrum in 1978, who predeceased him in 1996.

Mr. Gentry was a Monroe businessman and owner of the Andrew J. Gentry, Sr. CPA firm.

He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana Society of Certified Accountants. He was also a member of the Lion's and Kiwana's club.

Survivors include two children of the first marriage, namely, Andrew J. Gentry, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Little Rock, Arkansas, Gary E. Gentry, and his wife Tina of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. One Grandchild, Stephen A. Gentry of West Monroe, Louisiana. Two step sons, namely Wayne Landrum of Monroe, Louisiana and James Landrum of Jacksonville, Florida. One-step daughter, Susan Landrum of New Orleans, Louisiana.

A special thanks to Hospice Care of Louisiana for the kind and thoughtful assistance they rendered to Mr. Gentry Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Lee Gentry and Cuma Erskine Gentry, a brother Dalton Gentry, and four sisters, Cleo Henry James, Inez Gentry Eaves, Ruth Gentry Guillory and Louise Gentry Miller.

Pallbearers will be Stephen A. Gentry, William J. Hardy, Jr., Michael R. Henry, Sam O. Henry, IV, Wayne Landrum, and James Landrum.
