Andrew Herlong

A chapel service for Andrew Herlong will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, 11/17/2014 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home followed by a committal service at the grave site.

Andrew Shane Herlong was preceded in death by his dad, Ernest Fretwell.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Fretwell; father, Larry Herlong; his brother, Ernest Ray (Jacque) Fretwell; three sisters, Bama Fretwell, Melissa Geriah and Melanie (Ales) Herlong-Ordelt; his loved fiancé Deana Cotton; two sons, C.J. and Josh; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, other relatives and his lifelong friend, Michael Little, along with many dear and close friends.

Shane was one of a kind. He was a 1992 graduate of Ben C. Rain High School and was a seasoned meat cutter, a profession in which he took great pride and excelled. He truly loved all of his family and friends and he celebrated life in all he did. It was often said that Shane never met a stranger and this was so very true. He had many, many friends and he considered them all close. If he could finish his day being with friends and family surrounded by a country song, life was good– because life revolved around a country song—and to have friends and family to share it with, made his day. He always stayed connected to those he loved and was an avid Alabama football fan. He will always be celebrated everywhere he is remembered because he had a smile that would light up a room and a personality that was electric. He was loved and adored by all and he will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shane's names to South Brookley United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM.

Michael Little, Hank Little, Pat Little, Jay Jensen, Stephen Williford, Andy Wilson, Chopper Nelson and Kenny Nelson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
