Anise McDaniel Brock, 83, a beloved member of the Moss Point Miss. community for the past 63+ years, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, with her two beloved sons, John III (Atlanta, Ga.) and David (Moss Point) nearby.
Anise Brock will be missed so much as an amazing and loving MaMaw by her grandchildren, Rebecca Brock Dixon (New York City) and Adam, John F. Brock, IV (Charlotte, N.C.) and Tracy, Major Shelton Brock (Charlotte, N.C.), Lauren Lear (Moss Point), and David Robert Brock (Moss Point); and her daughter-in-law, Christy Brock (Moss Point). Mary Rockett Brock, who grew up in Moss Point and has been married to John III, for almost 38 years, will miss a great friend and confidante. Countless friends in Moss Point and the Miss. Gulf Coast, as well as many across the USA, including many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless cousins will miss a very generous and special person in Anise.
Born in Newton Miss., Miss Anise was the oldest of six children of Anise Pickering McDaniel and Major Cyrus McDaniel Sr. She graduated from Mississippi College with Honors where she met her beloved husband, John F. Brock Jr., who preceded her in death in 2001. Anise was cherished by her brothers and sisters, Annette Robertson Smith of Hattiesburg Miss., Sarah Davis of Savannah Tenn., Major Jr. of Greenville, S.C., Jane Wade of Ocean Springs, and Jack McDaniel of Jackson Miss.
Mrs. Brock was an elementary school teacher and music teacher in Moss Point for over 40 years, and has been the Organist for the First Baptist Church of Moss Point for the past 55 years, so her influence in the Miss. Gulf Coast area has impacted many generations of families. She was also extremely active in the community as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Fortnightly Club, Jackson County Teachers Association, Mississippi Retired Teachers Association and several groups within the First Baptist Church, where she has been a member since 1943.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 8, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 9721 Hwy. 63, Moss Point.
The Reverend Michael Perry will officiate at the service to celebrate her life which will be held at the First Baptist Church, SBC, Moss Point Miss., on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. with a one hour visitation prior to service. Burial will follow in Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. Pallbearers will be Charles Barber, Johnny Young, Albert Jernigan, Adam Dixon, Billy Wilder, Ralph Davis, Tommy DeLashmet, Zeno Wells and Ricky Cunningham. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church, SBC, Moss Point.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church of Moss Point S.B.C. in her memory.
