HODGE, ANN WOOD

``For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.'' John 3:16.

Ann gave up her life on Earth Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, after battling cancer for 16 months, to live eternally with God. She was a person who had a smile and a friendly word for everyone she met. She was a native of Winnsboro and finished school at Ogden High School, where she was a member of the basketball team that won two state championships. In recent years, she was employed at Rosedown Plantation as a hostess and at Wal-Mart as a sales associate. She was retired and resided at Lake Rosemound in West Feliciana, in West Feliciana Parish, and was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Francisville. She was a former member of Zachary First Baptist Church.

She is survived and cherished by her husband, Delmus Eugene Hodge; and a son, Delmus Eugene ``Gene'' Hodge, both of Lake Rosemound. She is also survived by a grandson, Don of Woodville, Miss.; stepmother, Edna Johnson Wood of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mae Givens of Ruston and Debbie Cueington of Winnsboro; two brothers, Charles Wood of Ferriday and Robert ``Bobby'' Wood of Winnsboro; and many friends.

Preceded in death by her father, H.M. Wood; and mother, Myrtis Flowers Wood.

Visiting was held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, from 11 a.m. until service at 2 p.m. at St. Francisville Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Ratcliff and Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial in Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary.
