Sister of County Tax Assessor Dead

Mrs. Anna Rowland Higgason, wife of W. H. Higgason of Jersey, died at five o’clock Saturday morning, January 16th, and her body was laid to rest in the Jersey Cemetery Sunday afternoon, January 17. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Talbot of Harrell.

Mrs. Higgason was born in Calhoun county March 16, 1886; and moved with her parents to Bradley county in 1902. She completed the public school at Jersey and was graduated from Ouachita College in 1911. She taught in the public schools of Bradley County for a number of years, in 1917 was married to W. H. Higgason. She united with the Shady Grove Baptist church in 1903 where she remained an active member until her death.

She is survived by her husband, W. H. Higgason; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Rowland of Jersey; four brothers, C. R. Rowland of Hermitage, H. L. Rowland of Warren, ? A. Rowland of Little Rock, and C. B. Rowland of Monticello, and one sister, Mrs. C. T. Hoyle of Warren.

The following nephews acted as pall-bearers: Active- Carl, Frank, and Neill Rowland, Dawson, Witherington, Johnnie Martin and Howell Holye, Honorary: Marion, John, Clifton, C. R. , Jr., and Troy Rowland, Morton Higgason, Met and Rowland Hoyle, Edward Wilson and Karl Neal. The following ladies were in charge of the flowers: Mesdames Eunice Reynolds, N. C. Beard, Karl Neal, and Misses Mary Ed Martin and Edith Wilson.
