GLOSTER -- Services for Anna A. “Dot” Whittington, 78, of Gloster, who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Dawson, Bro. Tony Fowler and Bro. James Reeves officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gloster under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whittington was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Amite County, the daughter of Griff Sturdivant and Almedia Forman Sturdivant.
She was a nurse at Field Hospital in Centreville and was a member of Gloster Church of God.
Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raiford Whittington; one son, R.J. Whittington; two sisters, Erlene George and Eunice Arnold; and one brother, Tommy Sturdivant.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Reeves and wife Pat of Rock Hill, S.C., Hiram Whittington and wife Minnette of Gloster; three daughters, Gloria Lott and husband James of Gloster, Genevie Wilkinson and husband Don of Gloster and Lila Thomas of Baker, La.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Hitchcock of Natchez and Myrtle Gerald of Summitt; a number of nieces and nephews; and a caregiver and friend, Lillian Smith.
