Anne Sanders Whittington
February 11, 1946 - March 6, 2011

On Sunday, March 6, 2011, the Lord called home another angel, Anne Sanders Whittington, after a strong and courageous battle with Leukemia. She left her earthly home for a permanent heavenly home with Jesus.

Anne was born in Shreveport on February 11, 1946. She is survived by her husband of 22 years Joseph Whittington. Anne and Joe made their home in Arkadelphia, AR. She is also survived by daughter Kelley Maxey Cordray and husband Todd of Carrollton, TX. Left to cherish wonderful memories are Haley Anne and Dylan Edward Cordray, her grandchildren who she always referred to as her pride and joy. She left behind three sisters, Sue Sanders Gruber and husband Warren, Sherry Sanders Walker and husband Don, Nancy Sanders Bradford and husband Pat, and brother William Sanders and his wife Maura. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will always cherish their memories of Aunt Anne.

Anne is preceded in death by her mother Thelma Prince Sanders and her father William Edwin Sanders.

For the last 19 years Anne was employed at Anthony Timberlands in Bierne, Arkansas. She was a friend to all her co-workers and management.

Anne loved gardening, cooking and quilting. She cherished her friendship with the Girls of '64 at Minden High School. Many wonderful memories were made with Joe traveling to Colorado to visit family and many more trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama, with family and friends.

Anne's family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 4B and 10A at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 12th from twelve noon until 12:45 at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana, with a memorial service immediately following. The Rev. Carol Heard, a cousin of Anne's, of Heflin United Methodist Church and Associate Pastor-Missions Wade Longcrier of FBC Carrollton, Texas will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Lakeview United Methodist Church 301 Lakeshore Drive, Minden LA 71055 or First Baptist Church Carrollton, Texas Youth Mission Trip Fund 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX 75007.
