Faye Jones

Funeral services for Faye Jones, 84, of Carthage, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Interment followed at Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones died, Wednesday June 3, 2008 in Carthage.

Mrs. Annie Faye McDaniel Jones was born July 10, 1924 in the Antioch Community of Panola County. She was one of 11 children born to the marriage of John A. and Mattie Twomey McDaniel. Faye was a graduate of Carthage High School. She married Joseph Hebert Jones, Sr. April 25, 1947 and together they celebrated 43 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Jones loved her Lord above all else. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage where she taught the Fidelity Sunday School Class and devoted herself to the church choir, W.M.A. and the Joy Group. Second to her Lord was the family she loved cared for and cherished. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Jimmy Jones and was the last of the 11 siblings born of the marriage.

Survivors include devoted sons Jody Jones, of Austin, and Ken Jones, of Ft. Worth; daughter-in-law Pat Jones, of Clayton; grandchildren James Jones, of Baytown, Kay Jones, of Ft. Worth, and Andrew Jones, of Charlotte, N. C.; great-grandchildren Darian Geisendorff, Treston Jones, and Andrew Jones; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Russell McDaniel, David Coleman, Mark Coleman, Dee Davis, Wesley Campbell and Gene Campbell. Carl Campbell served as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
