ANNIE A. SLEETH

ARLINGTON -- Annie A. Sleeth, 85, passed away in her sleep Tuesday, April 25, 2006, after attending the ballet at Bass Hall.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Saturday at Advent Lutheran Church, 3232 S. Cooper, Arlington. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today, Saturday at Advent Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Advent Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in her name.

Annie was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Caldwell Parish near Urania, La. She was the oldest of six children born to George and Lottie Higdon Abrams. She moved to Texas and married the love of her life, Sterlen ``Scotty'' Sleeth, in 1944. Scotty and Annie had two children, Myrlen Roberts and Sterlen Sleeth Jr.* During World War II Annie proudly served her country at Consolidated Aircraft as a ``Rosie the Riveter.'' Scotty and Annie owned the Old Branding Iron Grill in Arlington in the 1940s and later both worked for General Dynamics and LTV. They retired to McAllen and returned to Arlington in 1991 and were members of Advent Lutheran Church. Annie was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Arlington Senior Citizens.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Waterford Retirement Community and Annie's dear friend, Ms. Edith Waibel, and her neighbor, Renee.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Scotty; daughter, Myrlen; son, Sterlen Sleeth Jr.; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul Abrams (Edith).

Annie's lifelong passion of researching the Abrams family genealogy will be her lasting legacy to future generations.

Survivors include her four-legged friend, Mitzi; brothers, Johnny Abrams and wife, Mary Grace, of Arlington, Paul Abrams of Ball, La., and Bobby Abrams and wife, Ruth, of Denham Springs, La.; sisters, Goldie Vaughan and husband, Jack, of Arlington and Marie Decker and husband, Chuck, of Waxahachie; daughter-in-law, Marie Sleeth of Euless; grandchildren, Walter and Douglas Sleeth, Randy Sleeth and wife, Nancy, Scott Sleeth and wife, Eloisa, and Cheryl Carroll and husband, Paul; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
