MRS. ANNIE WHITTINGTON
LIBERTY, Miss. -- Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, May 12, at 10:30 o'clock for Mrs. Annie Whittington of Gloster, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James P. Walsh, in Liberty, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Whittington was 80 years of age April 12. She was a loyal member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist church and a faithful friend. In young womanhood she was united in marriage to W. F. Whittington, who preceded her in death 36 years. To their marriage ten children were born, nine of whom survive. They are Mrs. James P. Walsh Sr., of Liberty, N. G. Whittington of Centreville, Mrs. T. E. Cooper of Gloster, C. E. Whittington of Jackson, J. B. W. Whittington of Gloster, Miss Dixie Whittington of Poplarville, Mrs. Edd Brueck of Baton Rouge, Mrs. S. T. Magee of Jackson, and H. Grady Whittington of Gloster. Twenty-three grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive her and numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at Zion Hill Baptist church with her pastor, the Rev. H. J. McCool officiating, assisted by Dr. C. M. Savage of the Liberty Baptist church and Rev. A. A. Ward of Centreville. Interment was in the Zion Hill cemetery.
