Annie Rene Jordan Blume

LAKE CHARLES -- Annie Rene Jordan Blume, 88, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005, in a local hospital.

She was a native of Dodson and had been a resident of the Lake Charles area since 1938. She was a graduate of Louisiana College and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority. Annie taught in Calcasieu Parish for 23 years teaching at Westlake, Rosteet, Oak Park, and Nelson Elementary Schools. She was a very active member of Trinity Baptist Church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and teaching Training Union.

Survivors include her husband, Sydney Blume of Lake Charles; two sons, S. Newell Blume, and Don A. Blume and wife, Karen, all of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Dana Blume, DeAnn Blume, and Bryan Blume; three great-grandchildren, Tanner Welch, Hunter Welch, and Logan Duplantis; three nieces, Betty Jean Pierce, Sheril Mancil, and Velma Lou Sowers; and a sister-in-law, Vera Jordan.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Jordan, James Perry Jordan, and Bufford M. Jordan; and one sister, Ruth Sowers.

Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2005 in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Revs. Steve James and Dan Flowers will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
