Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Joe S. Evans

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 17, for Mrs. Joe S. Evans, 68, who died Saturday in a Monroe hospital following a brief illness. She was a life-long resident of the Mixon community and a member of the Baptist church.

Services were conducted at the Catron-Gay Funeral chapel with the Rev. J. O. McNair officiating, assisted by the Rev. Houston Roberts. Burial was in the Delhi Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were N. J. Rester, George Evans, Frank Roberts, Ivy Fuller, Wilton Roberts and Clarence Jernigan.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Joe S. Evans, Mixon; three sons, J. C. and L. G., Jonesville, and W. B. Evans, Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Jernigan and Mrs. Abie Ricardo, Port Arthur, Tex.; two brothers, Claude Grider [sic, Crider], Delhi, and Walter Grider [sic, Crider], Monroe; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Silk of Rand, Mrs. Andy Price of Rayville, Mrs. Clarence Johnson of Baskin and Mrs. Luther Johnson of Monroe; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
