Mrs. Nelson, Roscoe, Dies

ROSCOE (RNS) -- Mrs. Arlie Evelyn Nelson, 83, died at 10 p.m. Friday in Sweetwater where she had been a patient for several weeks.

Funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Roscoe Church of Christ with J. B. Hudson, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home in charge.

She had lived in Roscoe since 1919, coming here from Runnels County. She married William L. Smith in 1901. He died in 1919. She married S. H. Nelson in 1942. He died in 1949.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, Alvin, David and Wilson, all of Roscoe; five stepsons, Herman Nelson of Coahoma, Henry and Earl, both of California, T. H. and S. H., both of Sweetwater; three daughters, Mrs. C. L. Kreidel of Sweetwater, Mrs. Herman Heine of Roscoe and Mrs. Albert Monroe of Plainview; a stepdaughter, Mrs. G. D. Bryant of Monahans; a nephew, Jack Hanes of Dallas; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Grover and Bill Hanes, both of Roscoe, and Elmond of Seagoville; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Hurt of Ganado; Mrs. John Greenwalt [sic Greenawalt] of Seagoville, Mrs. Noah [sic Nola] Carter of Sweetwater, and Mrs. Elbert Martin of Roscoe, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Gray, Clyde Ater, D. S. Riggs, Hark Haney, C. F. Rose and Homer McLeod.
