Mr. Armon “A.P.” Taylor

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Mr. Armon “A.P.” Taylor, 73, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 1990 at Highland Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Lynn Jones, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, assisted by Dr. Franklin Atkinson of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel.

Mr. Taylor died Thursday, February 1, 1990 at his residence after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Sikes, La. and had been a Shreveport resident since 1936. Mr. Taylor was a District Sales Manager with Wire Rope Corp. of America from 1959 to 1982. He was a member, trustee and deacon of Highland Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor was also a member of the Order of the Top Of The World, Association of Oilwell Service Contractors (AOSC), Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors and lifetime member of Shreveport Purchasing Agents Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the 13th Naval Seabee Batallion - original expedition to Prudoe Bay, Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elon Welch Taylor of Shreveport; son, Paul Taylor of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Edward J. Chopin of Shreveport; sister, Willie Mae Jordan of Oil City, La.; brother, James A. Taylor of LaPorte, Texas; granddaughter, Amy Taylor of Houston, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Carroll Andrews, Robert Eatman, Curtis Petrev, Bill Manhein, Sidney Hubener, Raymond Boswell, Richard Dupree, Richard Hunter.

Honorary pallbearers will be ushers, greeters, and deacons of Highland Baptist Church and Thomas J. Stout, Dallas, Texas; Clarence VanderMolen, St. Joseph, Mo.; Bobby Bamburg, Shreveport, La.; Dr. Robert E. Rushing and Dr. George Risinger.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church Pulpit and Organ Fund.
