Armon Whittington Jr., 69, died Monday, January 29, 2001, at home. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Stringer Funeral Home. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery.

Mr. Whittington was a native of Gallman. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He lived in Hazlehurst all of his adult life and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.

Survivors include: wife, Linda H. Whittington of Hazlehurst; sons, Armon Whittington III and Paul Whittington, both of Hazlehurst; daughter, Ann Thomas of Ponchatoula, La.; mother, Mamie H. Whittington of Hazlehurst; brothers, Bobbie Joe Whittington of Statesboro, Ga., and Steve Whittington of Hazlehurst; and six grandchildren.
