BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 28. -- (AP) -- Artie Erskine, of Monroe, La., died of injuries suffered when he tumbled off a 15-foot embankment yesterday in West Feliciana parish.

Six passengers were less seriously hurt. Some of them said Erskine lost control of the bus after it cleared a hilltop and was moving down grade. The vehicle skidded 50 feet after rolling off the embankment.

Erskine suffered a fractured shoulder and internal injuries. Leona Fulford of Baskin, La., student at the State School for the Deaf, suffered painful bruises, J. D. Scott of Crowville, La., lacerations; Ben Jones, Woodville, Miss., and C. Fred Woodcock, New Orleans, lacerations.

Erskine, Jones and Scott remained in the hospital after being examined. Woodcock and Miss Fulford left after receiving treatment. Two other passengers, only slightly hurt, left without giving their names.

The bus was en route to New Orleans from Monroe, having passed through Natchez and St. Francisville. The accident occurred on Thompson's Creek bridge on highway 61.
