Austin H. Jordan
Services for Austin Harris Jordan of Winnfield, La., were at 10 a.m. Friday, November 29, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. The Rev. Rayford Higgs, assisted by the Rev. Bob Tuggle, officiated. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Butler Jordan.
Mr. Jordan, 81, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 1991 in Humana Hospital after a long illness.
The Winn Parish native, born August 3, 1910 was a retired maintenance employee of the Huey P. Long Trade School and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Jordan was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served with the First Specialists Battalion. He was a member of Eastern Star Masonic Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., and a member of Chapter 55, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Taylor Jordan of Winnfield; two sons, James Austin Jordan and Charles William Jordan, both of Oil City, La.; one daughter, LaMaye J. Alford of Winnfield; three brothers, Odis Jordan, Olan Jordan, and Monroe H. Jordan, all of Winnfield; one sister, Zelma Brinkley Sanders of Winnfield; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Brazzell, Bobby Kelley, Joe B. Jordan, A. D. ``Bodie'' Little, Mickey Brewton, William L. Dick, H. B. Walker, Robert W. Rhymes, and Robert E. Baker.
During the visitation period Thursday evening, W. A. Morris, M. J. Westbrook, Alex Smith, Joe Dowdy, and Alfred L. Pedeau were honor guards.
