SHREVEPORT
Services for Mrs. Ava Lee Prince, 74, of Shreveport, will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 28, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Wayne DuBose, Pastor of Summer Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Holt of Winnfield will assist. Burial will be at Centuries Memorial [sic Garden of Memories Cemetery] in Winnfield. Mrs. Prince will lie in state at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield until service time.
She died at 8:30, Sunday, July 26, 1981, at Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Prince, born Oct. 16, 1906, Sikes, LA, had been a resident of Shreveport for 18 years. She had lived in Winnfield, LA before moving from Leesville after 14 years. Mrs. Prince, a retired Life Underwriter, was a qualified member of the Million Dollar Round Table. She was a member of the Winnfield Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Summer Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Prince had celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary May 30.
Mrs. Prince is survived by her husband, Mr. Ellis E. Prince of Shreveport; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe King, Sr. of Greenwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Carvel Prince of Odessa, TX; five grandchildren, Bobby Joe King, Jr. and his wife Donna; Jan McKinnon and her husband, Billy Wayne; John B. King and his wife Susan; John Carvel Prince, Jr. and Pattie Kathleen Prince; six great-grandchildren, Chad, Jenny and Brandi McKinnon; Lisa and Adam King, and Kristi King; two sisters, Mrs. John Brister of Winnfield and Mrs. O. B. Martin of Shreveport; and two brothers, Mr. M. A. Simmons of Birmingham, Ala., and Mr. J. V. Simmons of Dallas; one sister-in-law, Mrs. E. C. Murray, Sr., of Shreveport and one brother-in-law, Dr. B. E. Prince of Monroe.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
