Barbara Robertson ``Sherry'' Jacobsen

``I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.'' II Timothy 4:7.

Sherry Jacobsen, 66, of Gonzales, went home to be with her Lord Jesus at midnight Sunday, May 23, 2010. She was a longtime Louisiana civil service employee, working for the Department of Health and Human Resources and the Department of Social Services for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Benton Robertson Jr. and Doris Vilate Crum Robertson; and a brother, William Benton Robertson III.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Jacobsen, of Gonzales; a son, Layton Nickens and his wife, Kay Nickens, of Westbend, Wis.; grandson, Jason Nickens, of Westbend; and countless other friends and family members who were blessed to know her. She is also survived by stepmother, Vera Beebe, of Schriever; sisters, Paula Cook, of Seabrook, Texas, and Kim Coffey and her husband, KiSon Coffey, of Bacliff, Texas; brothers, Richard Robertson and his wife, Deborah Robertson, of Magnolia, Texas, Dean Robertson, of Galvez, and Norman Robertson, of Seabrook, Texas; sister-in-law, Sarah Robertson, of Bryan, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her special and precious friends, Carolyn Vendt, Carolyn Plauche, Jim Tate, Darryl Gaudin, Valerie Verbois, Blaine, Stacy, Haley, Forest, and Logan English.

Visitation will be at Parkside Baptist Church, 14140 S. Harrell's Ferry Road, Tuesday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church Wednesday, May 26, from 9 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m.
