MORTON -- Mrs. Beatrice McCarty, 81, died Tuesday at the Briar Hill Nursing Home at Florence. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Polkville First Baptist Church in Smith County with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Carthage.
A native of Smith County, she lived in Polkville most of her life. She was a member of the Polkville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Harry McCarty, Louie McCarty, Joe Mirel Huff, and H.P. Huff, all of Polkville, Curtis Huff of Pelahatchie, and James F. Huff of Shreveport, La.; daughters, Earlene Menchaca of Austin, Texas; brothers, Maxey Pullen of Polkville, and Jessie Pullin of Jackson; sisters, Mrs. Verdie Mae Thompson of Morton and Mrs. Elois Lee of Jackson; step-sons, Clairborne McCarty of Pearl, and Jasper R. McCarty of Orlando, Fla.; step-daughter, Mrs. Ruby Vanderslice of Bay Springs; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
