Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Christian church in Tuttle for Ben F. Baker, with Bro Gene Segroves officiating. Pallbearers were Russell Hambleton, Joe Hartin Stevie Chenoweth, Hunk Cobble, Tom Bobier, John Elder, Ernie Andrews, & Lester Pierson. The church choir sand “The Old Rugged Cross”, & “In The Sweet Bye and Bye”. Ben F. Baker, age 82, of Tuttle, died Sunday in Grady Memorial hospital following a 9 month illness.
Born at Flat Lake, Knox county, KY, he moved to Minco in 1900. In 1908, he moved to Tuttle, where he engaged in the real estate business. On 10/14/1908, he married Miss Ethel Thomas, who preceded him in death on 1/11/1954. An elder in the First Christian church, he also taught Sunday School Bible class. He is survived by 1 brother, George Baker of Minco, 2 nieces, Mrs Austin Vandament of Tuttle, & Mrs Chester Halley of Minco.
Interment was in the Fairlawn cemetery under the direction of the Sowers funeral home.
