Officials Search For Body Of Man

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES (UPI) -- Law enforcement officers and game department officials searched the Rio Grande southward to Caballo Lake Wednesday for a man missing since Tuesday.

Officers said an upturned boat owned by Ben Finney of Truth or Consequences, was found in the river earlier Wednesday. Finney had not been seen since Tuesday.

State Police, Game and Fish Department officials and deputies from the Sierra County sheriff's office participated in the search.

Elephant Butte Angler Drowns

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES (UPI) -- The body of a Truth or Consequences man who apparently drowned while fishing earlier this week Thursday was recovered from the Rio Grande near here.

State police identified the victim as Ben Finney, 68, a retired employe of the Carrie Tingley Memorial Hospital in Truth or Consequences.

Search crews from the state police office, sheriff's department and Elephant Butte Lake diving unit recovered the body after shutting off the channel's water four miles downstream from where the victim's boat was found Tuesday.

Finney is survived by a son, Sherman, of Littleton, Colo.
